The Experience

The Tides is the quintessential upscale South Beach experience. Located within an architectural icon dating from the 1930s, it is set amidst one of city's most bustling areas, giving guests all the qualities Miami is famed for: Art Deco nostalgia, sun, sand and lively crowds.

The Scene

 Completed in 1936, the Tides was a landmark from the beginning (even at only twelve stories). Its location has always been enviable and a huge draw for locals and tourists alike. A walk down either Ocean Drive or nearby Collins and Washington Avenues provide not only spectacular people watching but also a plethora of restaurants, shops, live music and entertainment.

The Concept

 Now under independent management, recent renovations to this Art Deco gem reformed the hotel into 45 suites, all oversize and with expansive ocean views. Designer Kelly Wearstler brings her sense of extravagance to the Tides, drawing from sun, sand, and sky to create a sophisticated beach experience. Wearstler perfectly marries the muted color palette inside with the bold blue skies and water of South Beach, providing subtle but brilliant nautical touches--the most fantastic is a driftwood sculpture in the lobby--to tie it all together.

The Look

 The hotel décor oozes luxury with gilded accents and a beach-inspired palette of whites, corals and blonde woods. Rich textures abound with accent animal patterns like faux tortoise shells and skin rugs. French marble is used throughout the hotel and in all the bathrooms. Any and all requests are met through a staff of chic personal assistants and in lieu of an on-site spa, specialists can provide customized bedside or poolside services to make guests feel like well-cared-for celebrities.
