The Experience

A restaurant with rooms from the Myles Restaurant Group that brought Miami one of its best steakhouses and most popular restaurants, the Prime Hotel is supremely placed for being in the thick of things...or keeping you secluded from the rush without losing anything except the crowds.

The Scene

Well-heeled locals have pounced on SoFi (South of Fifth), bringing in not just gorgeous high rises but also a sense of laid-back luxury to the area. The residents, much like the businesses that inhabit it, love a good bit of glam but value high quality above all. Miami vanguard Joe’s Stone Crab now has excellent company from the Myles Restaurant Group (Prime 112, Prime Italian, Prime Fish, Big Pink) and others that enjoy a constant stream of foodies and celebrities. You’d be remiss to pass up the beautiful South Pointe Park with a less-crowded beach that locals favor over South Beach or Mid Beach; it’s a great place to catch the sunset.

The Concept

The Prime Hotel carries the laid-back luxury atmosphere from the downstairs Prime 112 Restaurant up through its 14 rooms. If it feels like the perfect place to crash after an excellent meal, it’s because it is. You’re removed from the bustle and transported to a relaxing refuge complete with a rooftop pool and intimate lounge area surrounding it. The service, though definitely present, is not obsequious or stifling and adds to the impression that this is more of a modern private house on top of one of Miami’s hottest restaurants. If you don’t feel up to venturing out into the madness of the Miami Beach area, stay in and order room service from any of the Myles offerings; you’re sure to find something delicious to appease your hunger and discerning palate.

The Look

If you ever wondered what it was like to own a condo in Miami, stay a while at Prime. Its clean and airy design with luxe features (think rainfall shower, slate, and marble) fit in so well with Miami’s aesthetic that we won’t fault you if it feels like the home you always wanted on the beach. Colors are used judiciously for accent walls and grassy carpets, but we encourage you to take in the stellar blue of the sky and sea just a block from the hotel---or, of course, on the private deck complete with plush white cabanas and shimmering blue pool.

Know Before You Go

  • Given the constant activity going on downstairs and on the street you’d expect to be subject to a great deal of noise, but the Prime is aware of its celebrity status and made sure to soundproof
  • You’ll have to go through the restaurant and lounge to reach the front desk but once there, you’ll be whisked away to your room
  • Valet parking is $35 with in/out privileges
