The Experience

If French design is known for one thing, it’s being classic, elegant, and timeless---and Hotel Keppler is wholly and delightfully French in the heart of grand Paris.

The Scene

Hotel Keppler is ideally placed ever so slightly out of the famed Golden Triangle which means you benefit from a quiet street and extremely close proximity to the Champs-Elysees, which remains France’s grandest promenade and something of an ode to patriotic grandeur. Monuments from the Arc de Triomphe stretches down to the Place du Concorde for one of the most beautiful walks in all Paris. The Metro is close by, but honestly we’re not sure you’ll use it a whole lot---there’s so much to see around the hotel that it would almost be a shame to take yourself underground and miss the sights.

The Concept

Designed by the esteemed Pierre Yves Rochon, the Keppler fuses stately style with the sensibility of the modern day. Hotel Keppler feels like an updated French aristocrat’s home in Paris thanks to no small amount of flamboyant decoration and ostentation (think shimmering mirrors, animal prints, and vases aplenty). The extravagant decor is paired with luxurious lifestyle amenities like an in-house hammam, fitness room, soundproofing, and attentive (but not obsequious) service. The staff and concierge are particularly helpful in providing advice on how to take advantage of this highly sought-after location and pour you a glass of wine to help you unwind after a long day of sightseeing. They’ve thought of all the nice little details in your room that help make a stay more comfortable: an umbrella just in case, Hermes bath amenities, bathrobes and slippers, and above all, a cozy bed.

The Look

The simplicity of a bichromatic color scheme allows Rochon to play up other accent colors in the bedrooms like a bright, sunny yellow, regal lilac, or flashy red. Rochon dabbles the colors throughout dancing patterns and contemporary art that graces the walls (but blessedly is not as loud as the design downstairs in the lounges). The rooms are by no means large but you can easily get some extra space with an upgrade to a standard or executive room. Rooms higher up look onto the Eiffel Tower, but streetside views are still picturesque---the area is known for its Haussman architectural style---and courtyard views are very quiet (but you should keep in mind this hotel is not on a busy street anyway).
