Step outside the Broome and get swept up in the glamour of Soho. Upscale shopping is everywhere from the paper shop at the corner of Broome and Lafayette Streets to the nearby Bloomingdale’s on Broadway, but don’t overlook the *share with… boutique downstairs with innovative jewelry, clothing, bags, and possibly the perfect NYC gift for someone back home. We’d be remiss if we didn’t give a tip of the hat to local mega-popular Balthazar just a block away on Crosby and Spring Streets---snag reservations if you can---but really and truly it’s so very difficult to go wrong with dining, shopping, or anything at all here. Do get out of Soho for just a bit, though; all of New York is really worth seeing and you’ve got two subway lines within 3 blocks of you. Want a quick getaway that’s wholly New York? Chinatown’s a 10 minute walk away.
Despite the undeniably French attitude that permeates the fabric of The Broome, the owners insist that at least their materials are totally American. The sense of being quite separate from the world outside in a nearly French and not-quite-American way is part of what makes The Broome so special. The courtyard is unquestionably the center around which the universe of The Broome revolves; at 4 (American) stories with overflowing planters of greenery spilling over the edge, Moroccan-style tile, and Parisian cafe tables and chairs. The occasional event pops through every so often (like the bright modern artwork that rotates throughout the common spaces) but overall, the courtyard is blissfully quiet despite the busy location. If you needed even more of a reason to find this spot an absolute oasis, join other guests for yoga on the patio every Saturday at 10 AM (a rather reasonable time for vacation, is it not?).
Laid back to the max, we adore the clean simplicity of things in these rooms. Super-silent windows keeping chaos out and quiet in, complementing the soft brown, white, and grey rooms. Pops of bright green in fabric and modern furniture provide the delightful counterpoint to the understated palette while remaining quite serene. Rooms are neither particularly large nor particularly small, but it works and you’re sure to be comfortable. It’s rare that we think the Penthouse is worth every single penny (but The Broome has a way of providing that extra value in everything). The terraces are not only enormous and relaxation encourages with super contemporary rocking lounges and a rustic picnic table but they also offer beautifully authentic views of Soho peeping out from behind the tufty boxed garden. Also potentially worth every penny is the minibar with a local-driven selection and a very popular black box with the essentials for an impromptu naughty night.
It’s so uncommon to find a true piece of someone’s soul so clearly present in their hotel---but then again, The Broome is an uncommon sort of place. Find your peaceful French-American place in the heart of Soho.

"...Make a reservation at the new Broome Hotel...and it’ll really feel like spending the night in the City of Light....yet for all the Francophone flair, this hotel is as much a part of New York as its owners are..."
"...Instead of a restaurant, there's a café hung with Keith Haring artworks, where you can get croissants from Spring Street's Ceci-Cela patisserie to eat at little Parisian-café-style tables in the inner courtyard..Mini-bars are stocked with chocolates and e-ciggies....C'est chic..."
