From the Ponoramappunkt of the Potsdamer Platz No. 1, you can get geographical perspective with views to the Brandenburg Gate, the Bellevue Palace, Reichstag, and many other famous landmarks. Pound the pavement to discover the expansive Tiergarten and all its delights or to explore the plethora of historic sites Mitte is full of. You definitely can’t be any more well-connected via public transportation; the Potsdamer Platz station links to all major train and bus lines in Berlin.

The Concept

Like mandalas themselves, The Mandala Hotel calms and revives its guests through its full-circle approach to hospitality. Its double Michelin-starred Facil under Chef Michael Kempf takes local and fresh eating to the level of an art. Its open architecture invites the hotel’s garden in when it’s cold and opens itself out in the summer months when it’s warm. The full-service ONO Spa cocoons guests in a white Zen environment of utter calm for complete relaxation and rejuvenation; the 24 hour fitness center is also housed in this facility. Most importantly, The Mandala Hotel has a deep commitment to sustainability and sends almost zero waste to landfills---quite a feat for a hotel---but it’s all due to the owners’ attempt to look after their guests, their Berlin community and the planet.

The Look

Just as a canvas is stark white, so is the contemporary---yet timeless---design throughout The Mandala Hotel that’s laid out for your journey to play out on. Additional colors in the space (beyond white) are almost always neutral and not intended to pop; fabrics are lush, rich, and reminiscent of the comfort a home imbues in us. Space is itself a design feature here; even the basic rooms are over 400 square feet and most rooms are classified as suites. There’s so much space that each studio and suite has a kitchenette, ample workdesk, and walk-in closet.
