Set on a tree-lined street in Charlottenburg just off the Savignyplatz, Sir F.K. Savigny is close enough to landmarks without being so far away that it’s off-putting. Some of Berlin’s best sights are within easy walking distance: 15 minutes to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, 15 minutes also to the Berlin Zoo and 20 minutes to the Tiergarten. Whatever landmarks aren’t within walking distance are certainly within reach of the extensive tram and train system---and Savignyplatz’s S-bahn is right behind the hotel. Sir F.K. Savigny is also in a fantastic area for art lovers with galleries aplenty ( sans the street art Berlin is often well-known for) and unique concept stores like Stilwerk. As par the course for Charlottenburg, you’ll find plenty of theaters, bars, and nice restaurants just about anywhere you look.
Though its name is taken from its area and a notable lawyer from the 19th century, Sir F.K. Savigny has a resolutely modern take on design and hospitality. The atmosphere is inviting from the moment you walk in and resonates with a cool and casual vibe. Nothing about Sir F.K. Savigny is uptight---but neither is it unrefined. The hotel offers a great many complimentary amenities that make you feel at home from the free (nonalcoholic) minibar to an in-room Nespresso machine and even a shoeshine service. Its open spaces are inviting and varied, appealing to whatever mood you’re in. The main lounge (where you check in) encourages cozying up with a book while the black-and-white bar (and breakfast restaurant in the morning) is an excellent place to see and be seen. There’s also a spacious garden area perfect for enjoying the outdoors (perhaps with a complimentary newspaper).
Sir F.K. Savigny blends a classic palette of black, white, and light wood together in a way that is elegant and unfussy. The lobby feels like a chic home replete with a small library and cozy fireplace while the bar and garden are more sleek in their black-and-white sensibilities. The rooms mirror the classic color combination begun downstairs, adding large, bright images as a sort of headboard that divides the sleeping area from the bathroom. Large windows framed by long white curtains and high ceilings keep the space feeling airy and overlook either Kantstrasse or the hotel’s garden. While not overly large, both the business and superior rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. Want more space? The executive room is for you with over 100 square feet more of space.
Hotels don’t have to throw amenity after amenity at you to get your attention; Sir F.K. Savigny simply offers fantastic hospitality, comfortable, stylish rooms that aren’t faddish, and a sought-after informal atmosphere in super-stylish Charlottenburg.
