The Scene

Shoreditch is an area known for curry, galleries, and a vibrant sense of entrepreneurial spirit near the Spitalfields market. Don’t expect a stuffy and boring atmosphere just because of its proximity to London City---it’s a culinary and art gallery paradise with high-end boutiques next to inexpensive eateries and a vibrant creative atmosphere. Popular landmarks are a short Tube ride away, but expect the city to come to you on the weekends and especially at night.

The Concept

Just as Shoreditch effortlessly blends seemingly disparate groups together for a uniquely Shoreditch feel, so does Boundary. It bills itself often as “Boundary Rooms, Restaurant & Rooftop” and indeed features all these things within its walls. The real draw of Boundary, however, is its dedication to the “traditional” arts---works from over 50 artists are featured throughout the hotel and its rooms---as well as the culinary arts. For a casual snack or meal, consider dropping into Albion, a cafe and small shop featuring British ingredients and products; for a memorable lunch or dinner, an affordable prix fixe menu is offered at notable downstairs Boundary Restaurant but it would be a true shame to miss out on head chef Frederick Forster’s a la carte premium delights. But for a truly unexpected experience, head to the rooftop and drink in the views of London at the stylish bar (you can also grab a nibble there any time of day).

The Look

The arts have clearly influenced the owners and designers of the Boundary. Each of the 18 rooms and suites are decorated in a style movement or renowned designer the owners---the Prescott & Conran group---admire. The materials are top-quality, but the décor naturally varies with the theme; think Bahaus, Shakers, and modern Chinoiserie to name a scant few. This is really a place where no two rooms are at all the same design-wise but offer the same amenities you’d expect of a hotel of this caliber.
